Pinned It, Tried It, Loved It

I am a fan of Pinterest. I use it like a magazine.  I pin ideas that I like or may want to do some day.  For me, it is fun and relaxing to see others' creativity at work.  Here are some pins that I have pinned, tried and loved the outcome.

We did this at the end of the summer.  It had been a long hard day for all and Taylor suggested that we do something fun.  We decided to surprise Daddy with a Marshmallow Attack when he came home from work.  Capes were necessary!
We hung this sign and a baggie with his supply of marshmallows.  The kids had all of their marshmallows in little baggies.  Then the kids waited for Daddy to pull into the driveway.  We saw Daddy pull up and then they got ready.  It took him an unusually long time to open the door.
When he opened the door we knew why.  He had gone through the recycling pile of cardboard to find a shield.  When he opened the door with his shield in hand we all went nuts laughing and throwing marshmallows.  It lasted until everyone's baggies were empty which was all of 30 seconds.  It was so much fun!
It took way longer to clean up the mess, but it was so worth it!  I highly recommend giving this one a try in your house.

So incredibly yummy, but SO INCREDIBLY rich.  You only need a little portion, which meant this dessert actually lasted a few days in our house.

These are bead storage boxes that you find at craft supply stores.  The boxes are only $2 and then you personalize them with the child's name.  The idea is that instead of handing your kids 5,000 snacks during a road trip, they would each have their own personalized snack box.  It is filled at the beginning of the road-trip and the kids are told that it will not be re-filled during the trip.  They are responsible for rationing their snacks throughout the trip.

I filled ours with dried fruit, yogurt covered raisins, goldfish, and a few sweet treats.  It worked really well for the older kids.  They rationed theirs out the entire nine hour drive.  It did not work well for the little ones!  They attempted to eat all of their food at once.  I had to take their boxes away before we had some sick kids on our hands.  Throughout the rest of the trip, I had to show them their boxes and have them point to the snack they wanted.  SO, although I love how the box worked for the older kids, I would not recommend it for ones under 4 years.

Game changer!  After adding strawberries to the mix, you will never eat s'mores the same way again.  Why did I not try this years ago?  I have not had a s'more without strawberries since eating them this way.

To help your boots keep their shape, cut pool noodles to the height of your boots.  This is such a simple and inexpensive thing to do to prolong the life and shape of your boots.   I love easy tips and tricks!
So, there you have it!
What have you pinned, tried and loved?
